Configuring & Using the Domain Certificate Generator

The Domain Certificate Generator allows clients to download a fully branded Certificate of Domain Registration directly from their client area.

The module supports full branding control including signature, logo, footer text, ABN, and certificate border styling.


Admin Configuration

Navigate to:

Addons → Domain Certificate Generator

All certificate branding and layout settings are managed under the Main tab.


Main Tab – Certificate Branding & Styling

Digital Signature Settings

  • Authorised Signatory Name
  • Role / Title
  • Signature Image Upload (PNG or JPG)

Authorised Signatory Name

Enter the name that will appear beneath the digital signature.

Example:

John Smith

Role / Title

Optional. Enter the role or title that appears under the name.

Example:

Managing Director

If left blank, only the name will be displayed.


Signature Image Upload

  • Accepted formats: PNG or JPG
  • Transparent PNG strongly recommended
  • Recommended width: 300–600px
  • Under 500KB file size
  • White or transparent background preferred

After uploading, click Save Settings.


Certificate Logo Options

You may choose how the logo appears on certificates:

  • Use WHMCS Default Logo (/assets/img/logo.png)
  • Or upload a Custom Certificate Logo

Custom Logo Guidelines

  • PNG with transparent background recommended
  • Ideal width: ~600px (400–800px range)
  • Maximum height: 200px
  • Under 500KB

Note: This logo affects certificates only and does not modify your WHMCS theme logo.


Company ABN (Footer)

The Company ABN field allows you to display your Australian Business Number in the certificate footer.

Example:

ABN: 61 940 941 913

If left blank, a default placeholder may be used.


Border Styling

You can customise the appearance of the certificate border:

Border Colour

  • Select using the colour picker
  • Or manually enter a HEX code (e.g. #ADDDAD)

Border Thickness

  • Measured in millimetres (TCPDF line width)
  • Typical range: 0.8 – 2.0
  • Maximum recommended: 3.0

Changes apply immediately to previews and newly generated certificates.


Footer Message (Disclaimer)

You may customise the disclaimer text displayed at the bottom of the certificate.

Example:

This certificate is provided for reference only and does not constitute legal proof of domain ownership. For legal verification, contact your registrar.

Keep the message concise for best layout results.


Tools Tab – Preview & Diagnostics

The Tools tab provides:

  • Folder integrity checks (signature, logo, template)
  • Template validation
  • Preview Sample Certificate (PDF)
  • Preview using a real client domain

Preview Sample Certificate

Generates a test certificate using sample data with your current branding settings.

Preview Real Certificate

Select a recent domain and generate a live preview using actual client data.


Client Usage

Clients can access their domain certificate from:

  • Client Area → Domains → My Domains
  • Select a domain
  • Click Download Certificate

The PDF will generate dynamically and download instantly.


Certificate Contents

The generated certificate includes:

  • Domain Name
  • Registrant Name
  • Issue Date
  • Expiry Date
  • Company Name
  • Company ABN (if set)
  • Digital Signature
  • Authorised Signatory Name
  • Role / Title
  • Custom Footer Message
  • Custom Border Styling

PDF Generation

  • Certificates are generated dynamically
  • No permanent file storage is required
  • Generated securely within WHMCS
  • Downloads directly to the client browser

Best Practice Recommendations

  • Use a transparent PNG signature
  • Use a high-resolution logo for crisp output
  • Keep footer disclaimers concise
  • Preview after changing branding settings
  • Use consistent corporate colour branding for border styling
