Questions About the Server Management Module
What does it include?
An admin-only server inventory with dedicated-server and VPS records, hardware and network fields, rack and power details, client associations, warranties, activity logs and module diagnostic tools.
Does it change client-facing pages?
No. It’s focused on admin-side server records and internal management.
Can I leave a field empty?
Many inventory fields are optional. Complete the fields relevant to each server and use the form validation to identify any required values. You can keep client association unset for internal or unassigned assets.
Do you support imports?
The supplied interface supports adding and editing individual records. Contact us to discuss moving an existing spreadsheet or inventory into the addon; any import assistance is agreed separately.
Can I track dedicated servers and VPS in the same addon?
Yes. The VPS setting identifies guest records and exposes resource fields for cores, RAM and disk storage, plus node/host association. The form hides physical hardware and colocation-style fields when VPS is selected.
Can I record different operating systems and control panels?
Yes. Records include operating-system and control-panel fields, with an Other option for custom names. You can record Linux or Windows servers and panel names such as cPanel, Plesk or DirectAdmin as inventory information.
Can I keep internal or unassigned servers?
Yes. Client association can be left unset for internal, spare or unassigned records. Managed/unmanaged and VPS settings let staff record how each asset is used.

Multi-DC or multi-rack?
Yes. Each record can store its location, rack name/number and rack position, together with switch, switch port, UPS and PDU information. Use consistent location and rack naming across your inventory.
What does the activity log show?
It records addon events such as adding, updating and deleting server records, schema operations, tools and security events. Filters include action, result, server ID and date range, and staff can review the administrator and event details.
What do the diagnostic tools check?
The Tools page checks the addon schema and inventory data integrity. It also offers TCP reachability testing for recorded servers, with a timeout and without sending login credentials. These checks support inventory administration rather than continuous server monitoring.
Can I control how much activity history is retained?
The maintenance tool can permanently prune addon activity-log rows older than a specified number of days. Choose the age threshold to suit your retention requirements and take a database backup before deleting history you may need.
