Eligibility
To register a .org.au domain name, you must have an Australian Presence and be a not-for-profit entity as defined in the auDA .au Licensing Rules.
Not-for-profit entities include, for example:
- an incorporated association or a company limited by guarantee;
- a non-distributing or non-trading cooperative;
- a charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC); or
- an Indigenous corporation, a registered union or employer association, or a registered political party.
An unincorporated club or group does not automatically qualify for .org.au. Eligible unincorporated associations may be able to register a .asn.au domain name instead.
Your chosen .org.au domain name must also be connected to your organisation. It must be a match or acronym of its legal, business or statutory name, a match of its Australian trade mark or of a trust it is trustee of, or a match or synonym of the name of a service, program, event, activity, premises or members' occupation it provides at the time you apply.
.org.au domain names cannot be registered solely to sell, lease or hold them to generate revenue, or solely to transfer them to someone else. You'll be asked for the relevant registrant and eligibility information during registration.
