To register a .sydney domain name, you must meet one of the three eligibility criteria in the .sydney Registration Policy and be the intended beneficiary of the domain name:
- New South Wales entities: an organisation registered with ASIC or the Australian Business Register that has an address in New South Wales linked to its ABN, ACN, RBN or ARBN, or a valid corporate address in New South Wales;
- New South Wales residents: an Australian citizen or resident with a valid address in New South Wales; or
- associated entities: an entity the registry accepts as associated with New South Wales, for example because it sells products, provides services or training, or organises events or activities in New South Wales.
Associated entities can only register a name that is an exact or partial match, abbreviation or acronym of their registered business name or the name they are commonly known by, or of a product, service, event, activity or course they offer in New South Wales. New South Wales entities and residents do not have this extra name rule.
You must not use any third party or service, such as a privacy or proxy service, to hide the identity of the true registrant. Your details must be accurate, and you must give your registrar any changes within 14 days.
